The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission and Hong Kong Monetary Authority published their annual joint survey of non-exchange-traded investment product sales, reporting that aggregate transaction amounts rose 63% to a record HKD 9.9 trillion in 2025. The number of clients completing at least one transaction increased 33% to more than 1.6 million, while the number of licensed corporations and registered institutions selling the products grew 9% to 452. Activity remained concentrated, with the 20 largest sellers accounting for 77% of transaction amounts. Collective investment schemes became the largest product category for the first time since the survey began in 2020, rising 85% to HKD 4.1 trillion and representing 42% of the total. Structured product sales increased 53% to HKD 3.9 trillion, led by equity-linked products, while money market funds accounted for 88% of the top five collective investment scheme sales reported by large firms. Online distribution also expanded, accounting for 21% of transaction amounts compared with 17% in 2024, with collective investment schemes making up 84% of online sales.
