The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) has been named “Risk Manager of the Year 2026” at the Central Banking Awards, recognising its risk management approach and methodological practices. The award cited the CBUAE’s move from traditional operational risk assessment to an artificial intelligence-enabled ecosystem that combines AI with a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) framework to provide an integrated view of risk flows across its value chain. It highlighted the deployment of an in-house AI Risk Agent that has reduced manual risk identification time and enabled earlier detection of “compound risks” at critical process stages, with these changes embedded in the CBUAE’s five-year strategy under the “Resilience by Design” principle. The award will be officially presented at the Central Banking meetings in London in June 2026.
