The Central Bank of Cuba published an update on an official ceremony marking 30 years of Banco Metropolitano's operations. Held at the bank's head office, the event recognized the institution's continuous work and its contribution to the consolidation of Cuba's banking and financial system. The National Union of Public Administration Workers awarded Banco Metropolitano the status of National Distinguished Collective as part of the anniversary observance. The program also included recognition for staff performance, including employees with June birthdays and the cashier with the highest number of operations in the period. In remarks at the event, the director of the branch network highlighted the bank's three decades of uninterrupted activity and called for continued work to address current and future challenges in national banking. Banco Metropolitano was established on May 19, 1996, initially to provide specialized banking services focused on diplomatic missions, entities and foreign individuals permanently resident in Cuba. Its first operation took place in June 1996, the date used as its commercial and institutional anniversary marker.
