The Central Bank of Taiwan released its monthly overview of renminbi (RMB) business conducted by banks, covering activity across domestic banking units (DBUs) and offshore banking units (OBUs). As of April 30, 2025, 65 authorized banks (DBUs) and 56 OBUs were conducting RMB business. Total RMB deposits stood at RMB 112.73 billion at end-March 2025 (DBUs RMB 83.00 billion, OBUs RMB 29.73 billion), while discounts and loans totalled RMB 18.77 billion (DBUs RMB 1.22 billion, OBUs RMB 17.55 billion). Total remittances in March 2025 were RMB 184.59 billion (DBUs RMB 97.85 billion, OBUs RMB 86.74 billion), and no RMB negotiable certificates of deposit were reported. The Taipei Branch of the Bank of China handled RMB settlements of RMB 517 billion in April 2025.
