Ghana's Ministry of Finance inaugurated a new seven-member Governing Board for Ghana Amalgamated Trust PLC (GAT), with Dr Kwabena Donkor appointed as chairperson and Abraham Tetteh as managing director. The Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko-Ampem, expressed confidence in the board’s ability to deliver its mandate and framed the appointments within the government’s approach to protecting the banking sector, stating that the administration has chosen to invest in saving banks rather than spending over GHS 30 billion to collapse them. Other board members are Hon. Joseph Appiah Boateng, MP; Benjamin Dabrah; Benjamin Komla Kpodo; Kotobridja Francis Ploughman; and Hon. Nicholas Amankwah, MP. Donkor pledged that the board will work toward a financially sustainable banking sector, with a focus on profitability and delivering dividends.
