The Ministry of Finance of Trinidad and Tobago said Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo took part in the OPEC Fund Development Forum 2026 in Vienna on June 23, where global leaders discussed development impact and resilience, particularly in vulnerable nations. The release frames the forum as a venue for dialogue, partnership-building and discussion of sustainable development pathways. The event was held under the theme "A Transition That Empowers Our Tomorrow" and also marked the OPEC Fund's 50th anniversary. In comments cited by the ministry, Tancoo said he wants to build on relationships established at the forum as Trinidad and Tobago continues to work with partners on resilience and development. Participants included Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, Austria's President Alexander Van der Bellen, finance and economic ministers, and leaders of development banks and agencies. Tancoo also thanked CAF, the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, for its continued support and for facilitating Trinidad and Tobago's contribution to the forum.
