The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) has ordered internet service providers operating in Italy to block six websites offering insurance services without authorization. Technical implementation is underway and may take several days. The action brings the number of unauthorized websites blocked by IVASS to 399 since it began exercising its blocking power in November 2023. IVASS warned consumers against insurance offers involving contact through instant messaging or text messages, requests for payment by prepaid credit card and websites absent from its official lists of supervised insurers and intermediaries.
