The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) have published an updated Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening cooperation and coordination in support of financial stability in Australia. The updated MOU sets out the two agencies’ respective roles and responsibilities for financial stability and refreshes arrangements for consultation, liaison and information sharing. It also specifies coordination arrangements across macroprudential policy, liquidity support, payments policy and crisis management. The update sits alongside multilateral coordination through the Council of Financial Regulators, which has also published an updated Charter.
