The Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency of Türkiye has announced a further step in its ongoing action programme to prevent abusive actors from exploiting traffic accident claim processes, including entities presenting themselves as “claims consultants” or “claims intermediaries” and using unlawfully obtained accident information to mislead claimants. As part of the programme, initial measures targeting appraisal practices were previously put in place to ensure claims are concluded on the basis of the “principle of actual loss”. The newly developed Smart Expert Assignment System is intended to simplify the process by enabling value loss compensation to be calculated at the same time as material damage. Next, the agency plans to continue the programme through prepared amendments to the traffic insurance general terms, aiming for compensation practices that are fully aligned with judicial precedents and can be delivered more fairly and quickly, alongside additional measures designed to remove such abusive formations from the system.
