Chile Financial Market Commission warns investors that North Trust Company and Northern Trust entities are not registered or authorized

The Chile Financial Market Commission issued an investor alert warning that North Trust Company, Northern Trust SpA and Northern Trust Company are neither registered with the CMF nor legally authorized to provide regulated financial services in Chile. The CMF noted it cannot exercise supervisory or sanctioning powers over these entities and stated it has no connection with them, including no access to or management of third-party bank accounts. It recommended that investors verify a firm’s registration status and management information via the CMF website and conduct online searches for complaints or negative feedback. The Commission also pointed the public to its Fraud Alerts Page, which allows users to check whether an entity or individual is supervised by the CMF and to consult alerts from the CMF and foreign regulators, including through IOSCO’s I-SCAN.
