The National Bank of Georgia reported that First Vice Governor Ekaterine Mikabadze attended the 50th Annual Meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) in Doha, Qatar, where she engaged with the IOSCO European Regional Committee and the Growth and Emerging Markets Committee. Discussions covered IOSCO’s Online Safety Guide for Retail Investors and a range of emerging issues, including new risks, market development trends across public and private capital markets, and fintech developments. Mikabadze also participated in sessions organised by the Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding Monitoring Group, the Diversity Support Network, and the Sustainability Reporting Standards Implementation Network, where the National Bank of Georgia holds representation. The National Bank of Georgia’s Head of the Securities Market Supervision Department, David Abesadze, also attended; the release reiterated that the central bank became a full IOSCO member in 2021 and joined the IOSCO Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding on information exchange that year.
