The European Securities and Markets Authority hosted its key conference in Paris, bringing together 300 participants in person and around 1,000 online to discuss the EU’s Savings and Investments Union (SIU). Keynote speeches were delivered by Maria Luís Albuquerque, Commissioner for Financial Services and the Savings and Investments Union, Jacques de Larosière, and ESMA Chair Verena Ross. Three panels and a fireside discussion focused on concrete ideas to make the SIU a reality, how to address the funding gap, and how to foster a culture of retail investment, with contributions from policymakers, journalists, regulators and industry professionals. ESMA positioned the event as part of its work to shape priorities over the coming years and support a collective vision for the SIU for EU citizens and businesses.
