The People's Bank of China hosted the 52nd meeting of the Executives’ Meeting of East Asia-Pacific Central Banks (EMEAP) Working Group on Payments and Market Infrastructure (WGPMI) in Wuxi, Jiangsu, with Vice Governor Lu Lei delivering remarks. The meeting focused on strengthening regional coordination on payment systems and oversight, including efforts to improve cross-border payment connectivity and tackle fraud. Participants exchanged views on progress in payments and market infrastructure, payment services market development and regulatory mechanisms, as well as cross-border interconnection, fraud prevention and monitoring, and the group’s future work plan. The meeting brought together 49 payments and settlement officials from central banks and monetary authorities across 11 East Asia-Pacific economies, with the BIS Innovation Hub, the Payment and Clearing Association of China and SWIFT participating in selected agenda items.
