The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA) held a dual ceremony to unveil the 2024 Insurance Market Performance Report and officially open TIRA Bima House, its new headquarters facility. The event brought together insurance-sector stakeholders, government institutions and development partners and was attended by Hon. Saada Mkuya Salum, Minister of State, President’s Office, Finance and Planning Zanzibar. During the ceremony, Commissioner of Insurance Dr. Baghayo Saqware highlighted six achievements recorded in 2024, including digital transformation of insurance systems, increased market penetration, enhanced regulatory compliance and growth in premium volumes. The new Bima House was positioned as a central hub for regulatory operations, industry engagement and innovation, intended to support more efficient and transparent service delivery. Hon. Mkuya noted that the 2024 report is intended to provide insights for investors, policymakers and the public, and referenced government support for initiatives aimed at expanding insurance awareness and inclusion.
