The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority has released its Monthly Authorised Deposit-taking Institution Statistics for May 2026, providing selected information on the domestic banking business of individual banks. The release is accompanied by a back-series dataset covering March 2019 to May 2026. APRA states that balance sheet data before July 2019 were published in the Monthly Banking Statistics, while earlier data were published in the Australian Banking Statistics and, before January 1990, in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette. It notes a series break from March 2002 because reporting requirements changed, including a shift from resident and non-resident data to resident-only data, the inclusion of Australian dollar equivalents of foreign currency transactions, and separate disclosure of intra-group deposits and loans. The next release is scheduled for 31 July 2026 and will cover the June 2026 edition.
