Lithuania’s Ministry of Finance published a doorstep statement from Finance Minister Kristupas Vaitiekunas ahead of the Eurogroup meeting in Brussels, arguing that Europe is economically strong and should act in unity to reach effective decisions to strengthen relations with the United States. He said it was too early to be more specific and that the outcome depended on negotiations and the further course of the process. In response to questions on joint defence loans in the context of changing relations with the US, Vaitiekunas said such loans were needed earlier. He also confirmed Lithuania’s support for the digital euro project, while noting that the implementation timeline remains unclear.
