The National Securities and Stock Market Commission of Ukraine outlined discussions with TheCityUK on artificial intelligence, virtual assets, corporate governance and the Commission’s institutional development. The talks support the Commission’s continuing work with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development to update Ukraine’s corporate governance framework and prepare a new Corporate Governance Code, following recent steps toward alignment with the OECD recommendation on corporate governance principles. The Commission is considering AI agents to automate routine internal tasks, such as preparing and distributing documents to market participants, provided they operate in a secure environment that protects official information. The parties also examined regulatory questions arising from AI use in finance, including authorization, accountability and risk controls, as well as the legal status of tokenized real world assets, their boundary with financial instruments and the compatibility of regulatory approaches across jurisdictions. Discussions also covered a World Bank supported functional audit of the Commission, with the parties set to continue their cooperation in these areas.
