The Albania Financial Services Authority published insurance market statistics for January–February 2025 showing gross written premiums of ALL 3,810 million, up 6.88% year on year, with 233,537 insurance contracts written (+14.13%). Gross claims paid totalled around ALL 1,269 million, down 1.28% versus the same period of 2024, while motor claims increased. Non-life insurance generated 90.53% of total premiums, compared with 9.43% for life insurance and 0.041% for reinsurance; by compulsory versus voluntary business, compulsory insurance accounted for 60.21% of premiums and voluntary insurance 39.79%. Compulsory motor premiums reached about ALL 2,294 million (+12.19%), with domestic MTPL premiums up 12.48% (contracts +5.57%), Green Card premiums up 11.17% (contracts +23.95%), and border insurance premiums up 6.11% (contracts +6.42%). Voluntary insurance premiums were around ALL 1,516 million (−0.27%) and the number of voluntary contracts rose 21.03%; voluntary non-life premiums fell 4.45%. Gross motor claims paid were about ALL 965 million (+18.42%), representing 76.00% of total claims paid. Average claim amounts were ALL 144 thousand for domestic MTPL (+3.55%), ALL 431 thousand for Green Card (−18.69%), and ALL 109 thousand for casco (−2.72%); paid-claims figures include Compensation Fund claims reported by the Albanian Insurance Bureau.
