Moldova’s Ministry of Finance reported that the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft law amending several normative acts to strengthen the legal framework for protecting consumers of financial services, in the context of the National Commission for Financial Markets (CNPF) taking over supervision in this area on 1 July 2023. The package would require insurance companies and intermediaries to provide clear, complete product information, including pre-contractual disclosures to consumers. It would extend CNPF supervisory powers to savings and loan associations, add further consumer-protection provisions to credit agreements, and introduce clearer sanctions for breaches.
