The Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority published remarks by Deputy Insurance Commissioner Khadija Said urging women participating in the Women in the Finance Sector Meeting (TAWiFA) to take a lead role in educating the public on the importance of insurance and the use of different insurance products. The statement positioned the forum, which brings together women from banking, insurance and government institutions, as a platform to share experience, build professional networks and develop joint strategies to strengthen women’s economic participation. It also encouraged women to deepen their financial knowledge and skills and to use innovation and technology to expand insurance education to women in both urban and rural areas across different income groups. TIRA and the Tanzania Insurance Ombudsman’s Office are participating in Women in the Finance Sector Week, which began on 22 March 2026 with financial education for women entrepreneurs in Arusha and is scheduled to include a tree-planting exercise on 24 March 2026 in support of government efforts to address climate change.
