The European Banking Authority has launched a consultation on targeted revisions to the technical standards governing supervisory colleges’ joint decisions on institution-specific prudential requirements for cross-border banking groups. The proposal would streamline the process, align it with current supervisory practices and the revised Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process framework, and support more coordinated assessments and communications to institutions. The revisions would replace existing templates with a single, reduced and integrated risk assessment report and more clearly incorporate qualitative supervisory measures. They would also extend the scope of joint decisions to Pillar 2 Guidance and leverage ratio-related Pillar 2 requirements and guidance. The changes build on more than a decade of experience with supervisory colleges and form part of the EBA’s broader initiative to simplify the EU prudential and supervisory framework.
