The Japan Financial Services Agency has opened recruitment for a small number of assistant section manager-class staff to support supervisory inspections and monitoring of financial institutions’ system risk management, with roles in its IT planning team and cyber planning team. The IT planning role focuses on assessing banks’ IT strategies and system investment plans through dialogue with institutions from megabanks to regional lenders, and on monitoring major system integration and renewal projects where delivery failure could heighten the risk of large-scale outages. The cyber role covers inspection and monitoring against the agency’s cybersecurity guidelines, including review of materials from technical, risk management and governance perspectives, and leading initiatives such as threat-led penetration testing and attack surface management, alongside coordination with domestic bodies and overseas authorities. Positions are expected to be full-time fixed-term national civil servant appointments for about two years from 8 April 2026 with potential renewal, with selection based on document screening followed by interview; applications remain open until the required number of candidates is reached.
