The Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism has opened its 42nd plenary session in Moscow under Chair Yuri Chikhanchin. The main substantive focus is the further preparation of member countries for the next round of mutual evaluations, alongside implementation of the updated Financial Action Task Force standards and their effective application. Chikhanchin said the session will also give particular attention to training personnel on the basis of common educational standards. He framed the discussions around shared regional risks, including transnational crime, terrorism, corruption, theft of budget funds, drug trafficking, and the criminal use of new technologies and virtual assets, arguing for stronger regional coordination and consolidated action. The plenary has brought together delegates from 19 countries across the Eurasian region, the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia, as well as representatives of more than 20 international organizations.
