The Sustainable Banking and Finance Network (SBFN) convened a regional luncheon for its Latin America and the Caribbean members during the III Latin American Congress on Sustainable and Inclusive Banking in Santo Domingo, bringing together representatives from 14 SBFN member institutions and other regional financial sector stakeholders. Discussions covered member-led initiatives including the launch of the International Finance Corporation’s Silver Economy Program, the rollout of the 2025 Resilient Banking Survey, and the introduction of the Circular Economy Finance Guidelines. The Circular Economy Finance Guidelines are positioned as the first comprehensive guidelines on circular economy finance, setting eligibility criteria and quantifying the volume of eligible transactions to help financial institutions and corporates identify, evaluate and track financing flows for circular economy projects. Participants also exchanged updates on sustainable finance regulation and market developments across the region, including work on green taxonomies, thematic bond issuance, open finance regulation, and enhanced environmental, social and governance and gender-related governance standards, alongside broader momentum around climate-related frameworks, social inclusion and digital transformation.
