The European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) will hold an exchange of views on 18 March 2026 with Erkki Liikanen, Andreas Barckow and Emmanuel Faber, Chairs of the IFRS Foundation, the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). The session is positioned as part of Parliament’s scrutiny of the European Union endorsement process for International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), which are developed by the IASB and require EU endorsement before application. ECON describes the exchange as an annual element of this scrutiny and notes Parliament’s previous calls to be involved early in the development of international financial reporting standards. It also highlights that the ISSB, created in 2021 as the second pillar of the IFRS Foundation, is responsible for developing international sustainability reporting standards.
