The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission published an update on its participation in high-level ASEAN capital market meetings in Penang, Malaysia, held from 13 to 17 February 2025, as the Philippines serves as Vice Chair of the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF). At the 42nd ACMF Chairs’ Meeting chaired by the Securities Commission Malaysia, discussions set priorities for the ACMF’s work programme and reviewed initiatives spanning sustainable finance, digital assets and regulatory capacity-building, alongside efforts to align ASEAN markets with global standards and strengthen cross-border cooperation. SEC Philippines representatives also joined the ACMF-International Sustainability Standards Board technical training on Sustainability Disclosure Standards and a sustainability workshop led by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, focusing on sustainability-related financial disclosures, emissions reporting and transition finance, including the ASEAN Taxonomy and IFRS S1 and S2. Separately, engagement at the ASEAN Working Committee on Capital Market Development meeting and the Joint WC-CMD-ACMF meeting under the ASEAN Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting-Working Group covered the ASEAN Sectoral Plan, the ASEAN Bond Market Development Scorecard, the ASEAN Sustainable Finance Support Hub, the ASEAN Economic Community Strategic Plan 2026-2030, currency de-risking mechanisms, the Asia GX Consortium and Project Revive.
