The Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan hosted in Baku the second meeting of the Council of Central Banks of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States. The meeting brought together central banks from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan and Türkiye, with Hungary and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus attending as observers, and concluded with the signing of a communiqué covering agreed outcomes and future areas of cooperation. Discussions focused on two main themes: monetary and financial policy measures to address global and regional risks over the medium term, and the development of digital financial ecosystems, including fintech. Azerbaijani central bank officials presented the country’s experience with monetary policy and financial stability measures, as well as initiatives and planned work on digital finance. Participants also stressed the importance of expanding the council’s role as a regional and global platform and further strengthening cooperation among central banks. The third meeting of the council is scheduled to take place in Türkiye in 2027.
