The State Bank of Vietnam published the Prime Minister’s decision establishing a National Steering Committee on Data, with State Bank of Vietnam Governor Nguyen Thi Hong appointed as a member, to coordinate national data policy and the development and use of key government databases. Chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the inter-agency committee is mandated to research and advise on national-scale data strategies, mechanisms and solutions, including building national and specialised databases and integrating, synchronising, storing, sharing, analysing and coordinating data through the National Integrated Database. It will also coordinate implementation across ministries, sectors and localities, monitor and review cross-cutting programmes and projects, and provide opinions on strategies and policy proposals within the Government’s and Prime Minister’s decision-making remit. The Ministry of Public Security will act as the standing agency, including preparing the committee’s work plan and rules of operation and ensuring operating conditions. The decision takes effect from 20 October 2025.
