Botswana’s Vice President and Minister of Finance, Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, has appointed Kenneth Molosi as Chairman of the Bank of Botswana Board for the period from 1 May 2025 to 31 August 2029. The appointment is made under Section 9 of the Bank of Botswana (Amendment) Act, 2022, which empowers the Minister to appoint the Board Chairman from among Board members, with the Board responsible for the Bank’s policy and general administration. Molosi has been a member of the Bank’s Board since 1 September 2021 and has served on its Audit and Risk and Human Resources Committees. The Bank highlighted his contributions to strategic oversight and plan implementation, Human Resources initiatives including adding psychometric assessments to recruitment and establishing a transformation and talent management function, and Audit and Risk Committee work covering financial statements, budgets, audit matters, risk management, internal controls, governance and information technology. The release also notes his involvement in Board matters relating to the Bank’s Digitalisation Project, the National Payments Retail Switch led by the Bank and the Bankers Association of Botswana, and work connected to innovation and fintechs.
