The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has issued an alert on fraudulent websites, internet banking login screens, phishing emails and other scams reported to it and covered in related bank notices. Banks will not send SMS messages or emails containing links that direct customers to bank websites to conduct transactions. They also will not request sensitive information, including login passwords or one-time passwords, by phone, email or SMS. Anyone who disclosed personal information or conducted transactions in response to these scams should contact the relevant bank and report the matter to the Hong Kong Police Force.
