The European Banking Authority announced that its Chairperson, José Manuel Campa, will step down and leave the Authority at the end of January 2026, citing personal, family-related reasons. He will remain fully engaged until then to support a seamless leadership transition and minimise disruption. Campa informed the EBA Board of Supervisors of his decision the previous week. He has served as Chairperson since March 2019 and was reconfirmed for a second mandate in February 2024. The EBA is initiating its standard process to select a new Chairperson through an open selection procedure, with the appointment governed by Article 48 of Regulation (EU) No 1093/2010 and subject to approval by the European Parliament.
