The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority reported talks with the Ontario Securities Commission on strengthening cross-border regulatory cooperation in non-bank financial activities, with discussions centred on capital market regulatory and supervisory frameworks, disclosure and governance, digital transformation and financial technology. The meeting in Cairo between FRA chair Islam Azam and Ontario Securities Commission chief executive Grant Vingoe also covered market oversight, investor protection and risk management. Azam, who also chairs IOSCO's Growth and Emerging Markets Committee, said Egypt has developed a flexible regulatory environment to support financial innovation while balancing market competitiveness with stability and transaction integrity. The exchange also addressed technical capacity building, training programmes and institutional knowledge sharing, while both sides stressed the need for continued international coordination as regulators respond to fintech, digital assets, sustainability and cross-border risks, with IOSCO cited as the main global standard setter for securities markets.
