The Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) has banned former financial adviser and Lighthouse Partners director Kiriley Roper, also known as Ms Suckling, from providing financial services for 10 years after finding fees for no service (FFNS) conduct affecting 14 clients. The ban took effect from 30 June 2025. ASIC found Lighthouse Partners engaged in FFNS between January 2022 and October 2023, and that Roper was aware of the conduct but failed to immediately report it to the licensee, Crown Wealth Group, and did not investigate or implement adequate systems to prevent recurrence. ASIC also formed the view she was not a fit and proper person to participate in the financial services industry, including because she failed to refund affected clients fees totalling AUD 81,652.71 plus interest and did not fulfil her director duties during a leave period from February 2022 to March 2023; the banning order also prohibits her from performing any function in a financial services business or controlling an entity that carries on such a business, and has been recorded on ASIC’s banned and disqualified register. Roper can seek review of ASIC’s decision at the Administrative Review Tribunal.
