The Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency has warned the public about fraudulent letters and other documents that misuse its name, logo and staff details in connection with alleged online investments. It said these materials are being used in fraud attempts and reiterated that it does not recover funds lost to fraud, compensate losses arising from market circumstances, collect taxes, or cooperate with other entities on fund recovery. The warning follows an increase in enquiries and information received about such cases. The agency urged citizens not to deal with entities that are not authorised to provide investment services or carry out investment activities in Croatia, and directed the public to its registers to verify licensed or notified firms and to its list of suspicious entities that have contacted Croatian citizens despite not appearing in those registers. Victims of fraud were told to contact the police or the State Attorney’s Office.
