The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission has launched an official account on Rednote, also known as Xiaohongshu, adding a new digital channel for regulatory updates and timely investor alerts. The move expands the SFC’s public communication with a broader demographic of Hong Kong market investors and adds to its investor education efforts as investment scam complaints increase. The Rednote account will be used to share key regulatory messages in a more accessible format, with anti-scam content featuring “Shui Yu”, the central character in the SFC’s “Don’t Be Sucker” campaign. The SFC received 898 reports of scam cases in 2025, up 39% from 2024. In the first quarter of 2026, scam-related complaints reached 222, and the highest financial loss in a single case exceeded $20 million. The new account complements the SFC’s existing presence on LinkedIn, Facebook, WeChat, Instagram and YouTube.
