The Ghana National Insurance Commission has issued a public notice requiring motorists to present a Ghana Card when purchasing or renewing any motor insurance policy, effective 1 January 2026. Corporate clients will also be required to provide their Tax Identification Number (TIN) when completing motor insurance transactions. The Commission linked the move to improved claims handling, stronger know-your-customer and anti-money laundering compliance, reduced fraud, and alignment with global financial services standards, and instructed motorists to present the Ghana Card at all motor insurance sales points.
