The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and the South African Reserve Bank (SARB), under South Africa’s G20 Presidency, announced the winners of the G20 TechSprint 2025 challenge focused on trust and integrity in finance. The joint initiative between the G20 Presidency and the BIS Innovation Hub selected winning solutions across three problem statements covering digital identity, credit data portability and fraud and cyber-risk mitigation for fast payment systems. Fifteen shortlisted teams presented to an independent judging panel convened by the SARB in South Africa. Ownapay SA (Proprietary) Ltd (South Africa) won the digital identity category, targeting verifiable and privacy-preserving technologies to establish trust among financial institutions; Silence Laboratories Pte Ltd (Singapore) won the credit data portability category, focused on secure, consumer-consented data exchange to support small and medium-sized enterprise financing and cross-border credit information sharing; and FNA and Proto (United Kingdom) won the fraud and cyber-risk mitigation category aimed at supporting wider global adoption of fast payment systems by reducing fraud and cyber risks.
