Mexico's National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV) and the Tax Administration Service (SAT) signed a cooperation agreement to incorporate SAT’s e.firma electronic signature into regulatory processes, with the stated aim of accelerating digitalisation and strengthening security in supervisory workflows. The first implementation will apply to the submission and receipt of Regulatory Report R24 (g2470), where e.firma will be used as an authentication mechanism to support secure transmission and the authenticity and integrity of data provided by regulated institutions. The agreement also allows CNBV to directly use selected SAT services, particularly for the use and validation of the Advanced Electronic Signature, to streamline procedures, optimise resources and reinforce the legal validity of electronic documents; SAT reported more than 55.1 million digital certificates issued as of end-June 2025 and e.firma use across more than 500 government services.
