The Insurance Commission of the Bahamas reported attending the 2025 Global Forum on Private Pensions in Istanbul on 6–7 November and highlighted that The Bahamas became a Governing Member of the International Organisation of Pension Supervisors (IOPS) in September 2025. The Forum was jointly organised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), IOPS, the Turkish Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Authority (IPRSA) and the Pension Monitoring Center of Türkiye (PMC), and brought together 130 senior officials and experts from 52 countries. Discussions covered digitalisation in pensions, asset-backed pension systems, payout phase design and supervision, life cycle strategies, voluntary pension participation and the role of pension funds in capital market development. The Commission indicated that the perspectives from the Forum will inform its work in The Bahamas and that it will continue collaborating with IOPS.
