The Australian Securities and Investments Commission has released a public beta version of its companies and organisations register search service, giving users an optional new way to access company information that is available without a fee. The enhanced service runs alongside ASIC Connect, where paid searches will continue, and is intended to provide a simpler online search experience for registry users. The beta introduces a redesigned search results page with filters for organisation type, status and location, and a clearer company profile view showing information including registration status, Australian Company Number or Australian Business Number, review dates and historical names. Wholesale users such as information brokers also gain access to a new suite of application programming interfaces designed to provide more secure connections to company search data. ASIC said this is the first of several planned improvements under its RegistryConnect program, which is progressively updating how users access and maintain registry information through digital services, stronger authentication and identity verification, improved data validation and a transition away from older systems and channels.
