The Central Bank of Mexico, together with the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit, Banjercito and the Mexican Bankers Association, announced the start of “Plan Billetes” in Álamo Temapache, Veracruz to support access to cash after heavy rains disrupted banking services at branches and ATMs. The initiative sets up temporary Banking Service Modules in areas affected by natural disasters so people can withdraw cash using debit or credit cards. In Álamo, four modules operated by Banjercito will allow withdrawals using the card and the cardholder’s PIN, and banks will not charge commissions for withdrawals made at these modules. If a fee is charged, the issuing bank will reimburse it later; the modules will be guarded by personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense. The four modules will begin operating on 17 October 2025, with opening hours of 8:30 to 15:00, Monday to Friday.
