The Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force published the final statement from its 40th Plenary Meeting in Amman, where members adopted multiple country follow-up reports and approved a methodology for a regional assessment of money laundering and terrorist financing risks. Work also progressed on typologies and guidance-related outputs relevant to anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing implementation. The Plenary adopted self-reports from countries whose security conditions prevented onsite visits and reviewed their efforts to strengthen anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing systems. It also discussed mechanisms to qualify and provide experts for mutual evaluations and follow-ups, considered typologies including money laundering and terrorist financing through legal entities and legal arrangements in the region, discussed a guidance document on implementing targeted financial sanctions and combating sanctions evasion, noted development of the MENAFATF e-learning platform, and reviewed and adopted a report covering MENAFATF working groups, committees, and forums.

The Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force concluded its 40th Plenary Meeting in Amman, adopting country follow-up reports, a regional assessment methodology for money laundering and terrorist financing risks, and progressing on typologies and guidance for anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing. The Plenary also addressed self-reports from countries with security constraints, expert qualification for evaluations, and developing an e-learning platform.
