The National Bank of Moldova reported that Governor Anca Dragu participated in a dialogue forum for women leaders in the financial sector in Vienna, as part of the Central and Eastern Europe Forum. In her remarks, she linked diversity and gender equality to a stable and sustainable financial environment and argued that central banks’ policy and regulatory role includes a responsibility to promote inclusive and equitable frameworks. Dragu highlighted the National Bank of Moldova’s internal workforce metrics, with women representing 64% of employees and holding 53% of management positions. She also cited the OMFIF 2024 Gender Balance Index, which shows the share of women in leadership roles at central banks rising from 14% to 16% in 2023, while only 29 of 185 central banks globally are headed by female governors, noting that the National Bank of Moldova is led by a woman for the first time in its history.
