The Bank of Cape Verde’s Behavioural Supervision Office announced a programme of activities for the 14th edition of Global Money Week, running from 16 to 28 March 2026, aimed at improving financial awareness and skills among children and young people. The Bank is expanding the campaign’s geographic reach to Chã das Caldeiras (Fogo island), Brava island and inland Santiago, prioritising community associations and youth in peripheral areas, and extending the programme to 28 March in response to high demand. Under the 2026 theme “Smart money talks”, the activities focus on encouraging more open discussion about money and strengthening practical decision-making, including managing a first salary, controlling spending, understanding education borrowing, basic investment concepts and protection against fraud. The Bank will use the campaign slogan “Learn, Save and Earn” and is organising the initiative with the Cabo Verde Stock Exchange, PROFIN, AJECON and ADECO; it also linked the outreach to its conduct-supervision mandate covering the offering and marketing of financial products and services in the banking and insurance sectors. Global Money Week is an OECD and International Network on Financial Education annual campaign, and Cabo Verde has participated in the last ten editions, including winning in 2019 in the new members category.
