The Algeria Market Authority announced the official launch of Algeria’s first university-focused venture capital fund. Dedicated to higher education and scientific research, the fund brings together 20 university institutions in its initial phase and is designed to support financing within the university ecosystem. The launch follows the authority’s approval on 2 March 2026 of the Investment Financing Company of the University of Algiers 3 as a university venture capital company, the first authorization of its kind in Algeria. That approval created a framework for new financing mechanisms aimed at supporting start-ups, backing innovative projects and strengthening innovation across universities.
