The Central Bank of Afghanistan (Da Afghanistan Bank, DAB) convened a meeting with the Association of Electronic Money and Payment Institutions of Afghanistan to coordinate the expansion of electronic payments and the digital collection of revenues. The discussion focused on implementing a decree on revenue collection through digital systems and on operationalising the general strategy for expanding electronic payments approved by the Prime Minister’s Office. Participants reviewed the responsibilities assigned to relevant agencies under the strategy, including the role of electronic payment institutions in supporting the transition from cash to electronic transactions and enabling digital revenue collection. Electronic money and payment institutions shared challenges and suggestions, and DAB indicated it would cooperate on relevant issues. DAB noted that an action plan has been developed based on the strategy and that effective steps will be taken in coordination with electronic money and payment institutions, with public awareness initiatives also raised as part of implementation.
