The Superintendency of Banks of Panama (SBP) hosted an in-person advanced course on “Consolidated Supervision and Risk Integration”, delivered by specialists from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and aimed at experienced banking supervisors and regulators. Held from 27 to 30 October, the programme combined lectures, discussion sessions and practical case analysis to deepen participants’ understanding of consolidated supervision and integrated risk assessment for complex banking institutions. The curriculum covered reviews of institutional risk management, analysis of critical risk categories and the use of practical tools to assess banks’ financial strength on a consolidated basis, including a stylised case exercise designed to simulate real-world banking scenarios. Participants included representatives from Bahamas, Belize, Costa Rica, Spain, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Colombia, Honduras, El Salvador and Panama, and the opening remarks were delivered by Roxana Castillo, SBP’s Director of Supervision of Financial Intermediaries and Trust Companies.
