Jordan Securities Commission held a specialised lecture at its headquarters titled “Investigating Cases on Funds: Thefts and Fraud” for criminal investigation personnel, positioning the session as part of its investor protection and awareness-raising work. The Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism Directorate presented the global AML/CFT framework, referencing Financial Action Task Force (FATF) standards and the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF). The session covered how AML/CFT requirements are monitored in licensed financial services companies, including sector risk assessments and the development of field inspection plans, and shared examples of suspected money laundering and terrorist financing scenarios in the securities sector. The Inspection Directorate outlined its supervisory tasks, including risk-based classification of firms, stages of the inspection process, and examples of investor account manipulation and the Investor Protection Fund in Securities System. The Licensing Directorate highlighted coordination between the Commission and the Criminal Investigation Department, discussed key provisions related to financial crimes with local and international case examples, and disclosed the development of an early warning system.
