The European Commission has reviewed outcomes from the Global Bioeconomy Summit in Dublin and related international meetings, highlighting an investment roadmap and the launch of a global solutions library. These initiatives support the European Union’s 2025 Bioeconomy Strategy by addressing barriers to commercial deployment through stronger demand, investment coordination and international research cooperation. At its second meeting during the summit on Oct. 20-21, the Bioeconomy Investment Deployment Group agreed on a roadmap for the coming year to address financing gaps and strengthen the pipeline of projects ready for investment. Supported by the European Investment Bank, the group brings together public and private financial actors. This financing work complements the previously announced Bio-Based Europe Alliance, which connects buyers and suppliers to make demand for bio-based products more predictable and help companies reach commercial scale. The International Bioeconomy Forum, co-chaired by the Commission and South Africa, adopted a strategic outcome document and research and innovation policy briefs at its Oct. 19 plenary. The Commission also launched the International Bioeconomy Solutions Library, a digital repository showcasing solutions from around the world to support knowledge sharing and replication. The forum’s cooperation covers areas including standards, biorefineries, microbiomes and forest innovation.
