At a Tbilisi Financial Summit panel on central bank priorities for 2027, National Bank of Georgia President Natia Turnava outlined priorities to maintain stable inflation expectations, strengthen international reserve buffers and continue dedollarization. She also discussed payment infrastructure modernization and further development of the regulatory framework for digital finance. Payment priorities include introducing an instant payment system and strengthening interoperability with international payment systems. These build on earlier infrastructure upgrades, including the May 2026 launch of settlement and clearing systems using the ISO 20022 international standard. Turnava also emphasized regulatory cooperation among regional central banks as trade and financial links expand. Priorities include simplifying payments across borders, exchanging information promptly and bringing supervisory frameworks closer together.
